Lisbon’s greatest animation festival has gathered more than X people and stopped by more than 10 places up to now: from the city’s more traditional theaters to cultural organizations, museums, and faculties!

Plenty of films to watch firsthand here at MONSTRA!

If the Festival’s first days were already packed with six national and international premieres, one can only imagine what’s coming next! This week, you can still count on the exclusive premiere of four unmissable portuguese short films: Melting, by Susana Miguel António and Filipa Gomes da Costa; The Garbage Man, by Laura Gonçalves; Tom Tom, by João Levezinho; and Left and Right, by Catarina Lobo, Cátia Barradas, Dinis Figueira, Filipe Quaresma, Gustavo Caetano, Mariana Soares, Max Oliveira, Pedro Dâmaso and Sebastião Lacerda.

The premieres have started on the 16th of March and, so far, we have already exhibited Belle [The Dragon and Freckled Princess], by Japanese Mamoru Hosoda; To Put It Mildly, by Bulgarian Anri Koulev; Anjos e Arcanjos, by José-Manuel Xavier; an excerpt of My Grandfather’s Demons, by Nuno Beato; Flee – A Fuga, by Jonas Rasmussen; and Barouder, by Mauro Carraro.

MONSTRA isn’t one of the country’s most iconic and most important festivals for no reason!

Besides showcasing animation cinema of the highest quality, MONSTRA’s gathering of both the artistic community and its audience is also responsible for the nourishment of generations of professionals, cinephiles, intellectuals and creators.

From BABY MONSTRINHA to the Competition Generation M, including discussion panels for university students, masterclasses with directors and an unmissable talk on Philosophy and Cinema for Children, MONSTRA is still pursuing its challenge and mission to change the reality in Animation not only in Lisbon but both in Portugal and the world!

You can take a look into every training, workshop and talk here.

The oncoming closing ceremony is already making us nostalgic! You can enjoy MONSTRA’s 21st edition until Sunday, the 27th of March!
