From March 9 to 16, the directors of the films that will fill the big screens at MONSTRA Festival (besides others) will also be instructors:

Paul Driessen will attempt to answer the question on the minds of every future creator: “From where do ideas come from?”. In a quick retrospective on his career, the aim is to go through every phase involved in film making. On the 15th, by 3pm, at Room 2 in Cinema São Jorge.

On the 10th at 3pm, Nick Park and Emanuel Nevado will come together to give a talk, revealing the biggest scope of backstage secrets. Sign up as soon as possible and mark your presence at Room 2 of Cinema São Jorge.

On the present day, what’s digital cannot be left out. This year’s schedule for “beyond the screen” will focus on the theme of Augmented Reality (AR). On the 13th, at 10am, attend a round table with multiple participants, at Room 2 in Cinema São Jorge.

Koji Yamamura and Catherine Verhelst, a regular composer in the Japanese director’s film soundtracks, will teach a unique masterclass which combines music with the seventh art. On the 14th, 3pm, at Room 2 in Cinema São Jorge.

Also representing Japan, Kunio Kato will speak about his work in a talk which precedes the screening of a selection of films which define his career. At Cinema City de Alvalade, starting at 9:30pm on the 13th.

Masterclasses with directors like Priit Tender and Priit and Olga Pärn are also available, as well as talks given by Google expert Pedro Vergani. Additionally, watch the presentation of a 360º performance, called “Fifteen Dancers and Uncertain Time”.

All Talks are free of charge, the only requirement being signing up in advance.
