MONSTRA’s 20th edition is almost here to bring you the best animation in the world!

There is still time, until january 10th, for Portuguese producers and directors to submit their films for the Portuguese competition, running for the SPAutores/Vasco Granja Award, to be given at MONSTRA next March.

Last year the Portuguese winners were, ex-aequo, “Uncle Thomas, the Accounting of Days”, by Regina Pessoa, and “Purpleboy” by Alexandre Siqueira. We were delighted to hear that the latter was pre-selected for the Oscar of Best Animation Short Film: from 96 short films, three are Portuguese.

With the submissions for the International Competition now closed, we have received a total of 3032 films, originating from 103 countries.  Those selected are now being contacted.

The selected films in all competitions (Feature Film, Short Film, Super Shorts, Family Program, Student, and Portuguese) will be officially announced in February.

Stay tuned and we will be expecting you all from March 10 – 21 , for another 12 days of non-stop animation!
