Centenary of Portuguese Animation Cinema: 100 years, 100 films

This exhibition celebrates the 100 years of Portuguese animation cinema, showcasing over a hundred images that represent the creativity and originality of national authors.

The historic journey begins with Joaquim Guerreiro’s “O Pesadelo do António Maria”, which is considered the first portuguese animation film, released exactly 100 years ago, in 1923.
Over a hundred works by various authors are included in the exhibition: original drawings, graphic and written documents, studio and optical objects.
