Last year we invited the award-winner director Alexandre Siqueira to illustrate the poster for MONSTRA 2021. He accepted the challenge and imagined for us a “monster” that evokes – besides hitting the guest country for this 20th edition – the constant restessness of Animation Film in the discovery of new relationships. This never-ending discovery that is Art also demands for new spaces and new screens, making other poetics, other realities, other movements.

Besides the six competitions, for which the submissions are now closed, and the highlights around the guest country, MONSTRA will be showcasing a diversity in training courses, exhibitions, and dialogue with all the other arts that complement the art of animation film. As always, you can count with 12 days of non-stop animation in several venues across Lisbon, but mainly returning to the “heart” that is part of its history, Cinema São Jorge.

The program will be revealed to the press and the public in June, but stay tuned: there’s still so much we want to share with you until then! .
